To begin with digital photography, Minolta made the choice to add a CCD back, the SB-90S, to its top-level silver camera, the 9000 autofocus SLR. And it was true that this back was produced industrially since November 1988. It fand a real market in spite of the fact that it was incredibly expansive (2915$ without VAT) and had a crude definition of 380,000 pixels as this picture of the Brooklyn Bridge verifies (however the colors are very beautiful). It was so appreciated that Minolta fand difficult to sell it in the US, because all the production capacity was absorbed by the Japanese customers. A similar back named SB-70S was made for the Minolta 7000. Both recorded 25 or 50 picts on the standard floppy diskette.
